The “Pilgrims” are going to Virginia in search of gold, but instead they face hunger
issues, death, sickness and birth. I really like how the author captured the characters feelings. For example when Samuel was in chains he said, “I am in so much pain right now this boat is so crowded and I am locked up, I cant even get out to go to the bathroom.” So, naturally I felt bad when something happened to the characters.
I recommend this book to people who like history and adventure.

This story is about a boy named Samuel, who was sent to the New World and changes his personality to wiser and kinder person. He suffers by wars, death between his people and the Indians. The author made the book more interesting by making me fell like I was there because the author wrote stuff like;"shierk like a demon`s cry" and it was more interesting then I thought.People who don`t like history, history will even enjoy this book too.Because this is one awsome book.

"The powder caught fire and exploded. It seared the flesh right off his leg.In agony,Captain Smith leaped overboard to cool the burn". Samuel Collier sails to the New World with Captain John Smith. Samuel meets Pocahontas and becomes friends with Richard. Reverend Hunt, their priest, taught Samuel how to love and care for someone. There are three deadly battles. In the battles many died but Samuel lived. In the first two battles the settlers lost but the one they won and "the Powhatan kingdom will be no more".

This wonderous book of adventure and excitement will let you travel back in time to 1607 because of the author's use of sensory language. For examle, "It is James, his thin body lying dead. "No", says Captain Gosnold gravely. This one is dead."

"Wow." That was literally my first reaction after finishing this book. There's great insight into what it was like in 1607 at Jamestown, and suspence to last a life time. I thought this book was AH-MAZING! However, I don't reccomend it to younger readers, due to the large ammount of violence.
